The Order in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory
The Order of the Red Cross of Constantine is considered by many to be the highest honour that can be awarded within York Rite Masonry and is a natural and very worthwhile extension of the teachings of the Royal Arch Degree.
The full title of the Order is the Masonic and Military Order of Rome and of the Red Cross of Constantine and the Orders of the Holy Sepulchre and of St John the Evangelist.
It is under the jurisdiction of the Grand Imperial Conclave for New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. The head of the Order is the Grand Sovereign with his deputy the Grand Viceroy.
The administration of the Order is the immediate responsibility of the Grand Recorder who has a similar role to that of the Grand Secretary in the Craft.
The Degrees of the Order are worked by Conclaves which are governed by the joint leadership of the Most Puissant Sovereign and the Eminent Viceroy in a unique ceremonial layout.
Members are known as Knight Companions and addressed as Worthy Knights.
There are twelve Conclaves within the jurisdiction, of which three are in the Sydney metropolitan area. Normally, Conclave meetings are held at quarterly intervals in each year.
